What Is Selank?
Selank is a lab-made copy of tuftsin, a small piece of an immune protein. Chemists added modified it so it lasts longer in the body. Russian researchers built it as a calming drug that does not make you sleepy. In Russia, it is approved and sold there for treatment. Everywhere else it is a research compound with no official approval for Human use.

Does Selank Reduce Anxiety?
Russian trials say yes, and they were fairly large scale clinical trials. One study compared Selank with a benzodiazepine in patients with anxiety. It found similar calming effects, with no drowsiness and no withdrawal.
Earlier work found a possible reason why – Selank blocks enzymes that break down the body’s own calming peptides. No trial outside Russia has pursued repeating these trials. The table below is a brief summary of the research.

| Finding | Model |
|---|---|
| Anxiolytic effect compared with a benzodiazepine | Patient trial (2014) |
| Efficacy in anxiety disorders | Russian clinical studies |
| Blocked enkephalin-degrading enzymes | Mechanism study (2001) |
| Trials outside Russia | None published |
What this evidence does not cover
Almost every Selank paper comes from one country (Russia) and no outside group has repeated the work. No agency outside Russia has approved it for anxiety disorder either. Anxiety responds to other treatments with far deeper evidence and it also deserves a real diagnosis before pursuing treatment. Research vials are not medicine.

What Does Selank Cost?
Selank runs $35 to $65 for a 5 to 10mg vial. Nasal spray versions cost more because they take extra work to make due to their manufacturing process.
Prices well below that range should be a red flag and may be vials that are under-filled or untested.
